NEW YORK, NY – The Autumn Ball, the annual gala that benefits North Shore-LIJ’s care locations in Manhattan, led by Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital and Lenox Health Greenwich Village, raised more than $2 million, greatly exceeding last year’s total.
Proceeds from the premier event, attended by 630 guests, will benefit current clinical and community programs at all three locations and will allow for investments to advance groundbreaking medical treatment and superior patient-centered care. The gala, held November 11 at the American Museum of Natural History, served as a celebration of Ellen and Daniel Crown’s 25 years of service to Lenox Hill Hospital and the North Shore-LIJ Health System. Emmy-winning actor, Jeffrey Tambor, served as Master of Ceremonies.
The evening included a special tribute to the Crown family for their support and partnership with Lenox Hill Hospital over the last 25 years. The Crowns have been involved in many areas of the hospital, but have a particular passion for pediatrics. Their generosity helped create the Crown Family Pediatric Center, which opened in 2013. The premier center specializes in maternity and neo-natal care and has enabled Lenox Hill to bring revolutionary medical care to the New York City community. In attendance were two families who were grateful for the exceptional care their young children had received at the pediatric center.
“As our health system’s flagship hospital in Manhattan, Lenox Hill is a symbol of excellence that has been a leading innovator in medical care for nearly 160 years, developing many of the standards and practices that are indispensable components of modern medicine,” said Michael Dowling, president and CEO of the North Shore-LIJ Health System (soon to become Northwell Health) which owns and operates Lenox Hill Hospital. “As we expand our geographic footprint throughout Manhattan, the tri-state area and beyond, it is only with the support of our generous donors that Lenox Hill Hospital and its partners can continue to deliver cutting-edge, compassionate care to our patients and their families.”
The Autumn Ball Benefit Committee’s dynamic roster is comprised of a number of New York City leaders whose specialties span across the fields of medicine, publishing, media, philanthropy and the arts.
